Position Type: Full-Time, Salaried (40 hours/week; requires evening and weekend availability)
Salary Range: $45,000- $55,000 (Commensurate with experience)

Position Overview
The Sports, Therapeutic and Adaptive Recreation (STAR) Association is seeking a mission-driven professional to serve as the STAR Center Program Coordinator
Reporting directly to the nonprofit’s Executive Director, the Program Coordinator serves as both a hands-on instructor and the operational/supervisory lead for a team of program facilitators.
This role provides a balanced (50/50) mix of direct program delivery and administrative oversight, ensuring safe, high-quality, and mission-aligned adaptive recreation and specialized exercise programs for individuals with disabilities or barriers to accessing physical activity.
Key Responsibilities
Program Facilitation (50%)
- Lead & Instruct: Facilitate high-quality programming, including: Small-group, disease/disability/condition- specific exercise programs, Adaptive recreation activities, Para and wheelchair-accessible sports
- Member Support: Coach and instruct members on safe, proper equipment usage and modified exercise technique.
- Curriculum Development: Support the development and continuous improvement of specialized exercise and adaptive recreation programming, employing evidenced-based, therapeutic interventions.
- Curriculum Implementation: Apply evidence-based practices to adapt and modify programming, ensuring an impactful, inclusive experience for members of all ability levels.
Administrative & Supervisory (50%)
- Team Leadership: Supervise, schedule, and support program facilitators; compile payroll data accurately.
- Volunteer Management: Recruit, onboard, and train organization volunteers. Compliance & Safety: Ensure all programs comply with National Governing Body (NGB) standards and track required staff/volunteer certifications and training.
- Data & Reporting: Maintain accurate records in the CRM platform and collect evaluation data/outcomes for grant reporting.
- Member Services: Deliver excellent member support, including leading facility tours, conducting initial assessments, and supporting class scheduling.
- Communications: Assist with social media channels and community outreach to promote the organization’s nonprofit mission.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Management, Leisure Studies, Adaptive Physical Education/Activity, Exercise/Sports Science, or a related field.
Proven experience facilitating adaptive recreation or specialized exercise programs for diverse age groups (children to seniors).
Certifications & Clearances:
Ability to obtain SafeSport, First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications within 3 months of hire.
Valid driver’s license.
Successful completion of a background check.
Technical & Physical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with CRM platforms.
- Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
