What is Adaptive Floor Hockey?
Floor hockey is the sport of hockey without skates in a gym. You get to enjoy the fun game of hockey without worrying about being able to skate or getting cold. This is a popular sport in the area high school adaptive sports league. Find out what all the excitement is about.
New to the sport? We will teach you
Don’t worry if you have never played. Our coaches will teach you all the skills you need, including passing, shooting and stick handling. Participants will join in a group warm up each week to assure we are stretching and strengthening our muscles. We then work on individual skills and teamwork skills. After we are all warmed up we enjoy playing games. So grab your friends and join us.
Great pre season training
This program is a great place to sharpen your skills prior to the High School Adaptive Sports League. If you have graduated, we don’t have to tell you how fun this game is. Grab your friends and continue to enjoy playing. This program is open to all abilities. We will make modification so that you can enjoy this fun team sport regardless of your challenge. The STAR Center provides all equipment.
Who can participate in the Adaptive Floor Hockey program?
Individuals 12+ are able to participate in this program. Anyone who has a mobility or cognitive challenge that makes participation in traditional programming difficult. This program is co-ed.

Individuals with physical disabilities can also participate if desired. Individuals may ambulate independently, or use assistive devices, or wheelchairs.
When is this program offered?

- open to all, Designed for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities or movement challenges
- Participants must be able to follow directions from the lead facilitator.
- If participants need assistance with following directions, a support staff must attend and assist the individual at the program.
- If you need assistance finding support, please contact STAR. We may have 1:1 mentors available.
- Participants will be held to the STAR Center Code of Conduct.
