Wheelchair Team Handball
How do I play wheelchair team handball?
Do you enjoy wheelchair basketball but find overhead shooting difficult? Are you new to wheelchair sports? Wheelchair team handball might be a great game for you. The sport uses many of the skills used in wheelchair basketball. But the goal is larger and is on the ground. This makes it easier for those with shoulder issue or strength issues to be able to participate. A volleyball, which is small and lighter than a basketball, allows those with upper extremity challenges be able to enjoy this fun team sport.
It takes a team
The rules require that you must move the ball between team members. No one can hold onto the ball for long, so everyone is involved. You will use passing, catching throwing and dribbling just like in wheelchair basketball. Team movement is also similar. You will learn how to screen and pick and roll similar to wheelchair basketball.
Easy to play
Our coaches will have you up and rolling in no time. The skills you have developed in other wheelchair sports are used in wheelchair team handball. There are few simple rules to learn. The game is a great cross training for other wheelchair sports. If you haven’t played a wheelchair sport, team handball is a great introduction.
