
Inclusive Boxing
What is Inclusive Boxing?
This program is designed for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and/or Physical Disabilities who are 16+. Participants in this program will engage in non-contact boxing interventions such as heavy bag, focus mitts, and reflex bag. Strength, endurance, balance, and flexibility training will be incorporated throughout for an all encompassing group workout class.
What makes Inclusive Boxing different than other programs?
- Utilize heavy bags, focus mitts, and reflex bag in a safe manner.
- Take time to learn proper boxing technique.
- Adaptations, visual ques, and modifications are utilized to support individual in boxing program.
- ALL individuals can participate!
- Transition time during programs are modified.
- Support from university students and volunteers.
- Modifications and progressions throughout program.
- We take time to connect with you and the needs and goals you want to achieve in your health journey!
Who can participate in Inclusive Boxing?
Any individual 16+ who has a mobility or cognitive disability. This program is co-ed. Adaptations and modifications are available.
Eligibility and Criteria:
- 16+, co-ed
- Designed for individuals of all abilities.
- Participants must be able to follow directions from the lead facilitator.
- If participants need assistance with following directions, a support staff must attend and assist the individual at the program.
- If you need assistance finding support, please contact STAR. We may have 1:1 mentors available.
- Participants will be held to the STAR Center Code of Conduct.

What to expect at Inclusive Boxing?
Participants will begin with warm ups and stretches. The program will include non-contact boxing techniques. Individuals will improve strength, endurance, hand-eye coordination, and balance through the use of boxing. Each class will end with a cool down!
