High School & Adult Adaptive Recreation

STAR Center adult and high school adaptive recreation program provides individuals the opportunity to be physically active in a fun and inclusive environment. Rotating through different sports throughout the year, there is sure to be something of interest to everyone. Between seasons we will play other fun games to keep active and healthy.  Fall  2023 we will be playing flag football.  Winter I 2023 we will be playing floor hockey.

Who can participate in the high school/adult adapted recreation program?

Students in grades 8-12 and adults over the age of 18. Anyone who has a mobility or cognitive challenge that makes participation in traditional programming difficult. This program is co-ed.

  • Sensory integration challenges
  • Balance challenges
  • Motor programming challenges
  • Down Syndrome
  • Autism Spectrum
  • Learning disabilities
  • Cognitive impairments
  • Low muscle tone
  • Other congenital syndromes

Individuals with physical disabilities can also participate if desired. Individuals may ambulate independently, or use assistive devices, or wheelchairs.

What sports can I play through the adaptive sports program?

The STAR Center offers kickball in the summer, soccer in the fall, floor hockey in the winter, and wiffleball in the spring. Individuals may also be interested in STAR’s adaptive/para programs. We currently offer tennis, pickleball, badminton, track and field, kayaking, boccia, music, and yoga depending on the season. Please inquire for more information.
