No one will be denied participation due to financial concerns. \nWho can participate in TIME: Stroke and Neurological Conditions?\nAny adult with a neurological disease or condition is invited to participate in TIME. Adaptations and modifications will be available for those who need it. \nCommon diseases or conditions may include: \n\nStroke\nSpinal Cord Injury\nMultiple Sclerosis\nCerebral Palsy\nTraumatic Brain Injury\nParkinson’s Disease\n\nEligibility and Criteria: \n\nAll ages and abilities are welcome.\nDesigned for individuals with neurological conditions\nIndividuals in this program must be able to participate independently with direction from the lead facilitator.\n\nIf individuals need 1:1 assistance\, a mentor or care partner must attend and assist the individual at the program.\nIf you need assistance finding support\, please contact STAR. SUMMARY:Brain & Body Fitness
DESCRIPTION:What is Brain & Body Fitness?\nBrain & Body Fitness is designed specifically for people living with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or early-stage dementias to maintain current functioning and increase socialization. Brain & Body occurs in a small group setting completing exercises that focus on brain and body health to improve physical fitness and mood. An early intervention for dementia diagnosis\, this class is a non-threatening way to remain active in the community. Brain & Body Fitness has been shown to improve physical fitness and mood in people living with dementia. The exercise program is safe\, effective and a fun\, social program taught by trained facilitators. \nWho can participate in Brain & Body Fitness?\nAny adult with a diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or early-stage dementia. To participate in the Brain & Body Fitness group exercise program participants must be able to perform simple exercises\, be able to follow verbal directions\, and participate in conversation. \nWhat to bring:\n\nWater bottle\nSweat towel\nComfortable clothing\nShoes suitable for activity\nCare partners are welcome to attend and participate with you\, at no extra cost\n\nThe STAR Center provides all equipment necessary for each program. \nCOVID-19 disclaimer\nThe STAR Association follows CDC\, State and County Health Department recommendations for COVID Mitigation. SUMMARY:Can't Stop Me- PD Exercise (Level 1-2)
DESCRIPTION:This program is intended to serve individuals with PD who are assessed as a level 1-2 by the program coordinator. In order to participate in this level\, the participant must be assessed as a level 1-2. This program is at a more advanced level of exercise. \nWho can participate:\nAll individuals with Parkinson’s Disease regardless of age and disease progression. Modifications will be made for individuals as necessary. Individuals with Parkinson’s Disease looking to improve their tone\, rigidity\, and overall function. Individuals do not need music experience to participate in this program. \nScholarships are available.
