DESCRIPTION:Who can participate:\nAll individuals with Parkinson’s Disease are welcome to participate in the PD Exercise program. Modifications will be made for individuals as necessary. Individuals with Parkinson’s Disease looking to improve their tone\, rigidity\, posture\, strength\, or overall function. \nThis class will be a mix of the two levels allowing individuals levels 1-4 to participate. PD Exercise has two class options: level 1-2 and level 3-4. Interested participants will work with the Program Coordinator to find the best class placement. Level 3-4 will include limited transitions\, functional movements\, and seated exercises (as needed). Level 1-2 will include faster transitions and advanced movements with less 1:1 support from volunteers and staff members. Modifications and progressions will be available for all classes to fit the needs of each participant. \n  \nThis program will count towards the 3 specialized exercise class limit. \nFinancial assistance is available. Adaptations and modifications will be available for those who need it. \n\nSpina bifida\nSpinal cord injury\nCerebral palsy\nCongenital limb issues\nAmputations\nLeg length discrepancy\nShort stature\nMuscular dystrophy\nParkinson’s disease\nMultiple sclerosis\nMotor dyspraxia\nLimited range of motion\nBalance issues\nPost stroke\nBlind and visual impairment\nDown syndrome\nAutism spectrum\nLearning disabilities\nCognitive impairments\nLow muscle tone\nOther congenital syndromes\n\nIndividuals may ambulate independently\, or use assistive devices\, or wheelchairs. \n1-1 mentors\nPlease contact the STAR Center if you will need a 1-1 mentor. We will do our best to find you a mentor\, but we can not guarantee at this time.
