DESCRIPTION:This program is open to individuals of all abilities 16+. This program is designed to welcome and orient new members to the STAR Center facility and programs. Participants will learn how to use STAR adaptive equipment and develop an initial exercise plan to use independently in the center. Participants will have the opportunity to ask specific questions about STAR group exercise programs in order to find the best fit for their abilities and goals. DESCRIPTION:What is Brain & Body Fitness?\nBrain & Body Fitness is designed specifically for people living with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or early-stage dementias to maintain current functioning and increase socialization. Brain & Body occurs in a small group setting completing exercises that focus on brain and body health to improve physical fitness and mood. An early intervention for dementia diagnosis\, this class is a non-threatening way to remain active in the community. Brain & Body Fitness has been shown to improve physical fitness and mood in people living with dementia. Modifications will be made for individuals as necessary. Individuals with Parkinson’s Disease looking to improve their tone\, rigidity\, and overall function. Individuals do not need music experience to participate in this program. \nScholarships are available. DESCRIPTION:What is Inclusive Boxing?\nThis program is designed for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and/or Physical Disabilities who are 16+. Participants in this program will engage in non-contact boxing interventions such as heavy bag\, focus mitts\, and reflex bag. Strength\, endurance\, balance\, and flexibility training will be incorporated throughout for an all encompassing group workout class. \nWho can participate in Inclusive Boxing?\nAny individual 16+ who has a mobility or cognitive disability. This program is co-ed. Adaptations and modifications are available. \nFinancial assistance is available.
