In order to participate in this level\, the participant must be assessed as a level 1-2. This program is at a more advanced level of exercise. \nWho can participate:\nAll individuals with Parkinson’s Disease regardless of age and disease progression. Modifications will be made for individuals as necessary. Individuals with Parkinson’s Disease looking to improve their tone\, rigidity\, and overall function. Individuals do not need music experience to participate in this program. \nScholarships are available. SUMMARY:Fresh STARt: Introduction to the STAR Center
DESCRIPTION:This program is open to individuals of all abilities 16+. This program is designed to welcome and orient new members to the STAR Center facility and programs. Participants will learn how to use STAR adaptive equipment and develop an initial exercise plan to use independently in the center. Participants will have the opportunity to ask specific questions about STAR group exercise programs in order to find the best fit for their abilities and goals. Individuals will complete a comprehensive checklist to ensure understanding and competency of the equipment. \nWho can participate in Fresh STARt: Introduction to the STAR Center?\nIndividuals 16+ who are interested in coming to open gym times or working out independently. DESCRIPTION:What is Brain & Body Fitness?\nBrain & Body Fitness is designed specifically for people living with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or early-stage dementias to maintain current functioning and increase socialization. Brain & Body occurs in a small group setting completing exercises that focus on brain and body health to improve physical fitness and mood. An early intervention for dementia diagnosis\, this class is a non-threatening way to remain active in the community. Brain & Body Fitness has been shown to improve physical fitness and mood in people living with dementia. The exercise program is safe\, effective and a fun\, social program taught by trained facilitators. \nWho can participate in Brain & Body Fitness?\nAny adult with a diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or early-stage dementia. DESCRIPTION:This program is intended to serve individuals with PD who are assessed as a level 1-2 by the program coordinator. In order to participate in this level\, the participant must be assessed as a level 1-2. This program is at a more advanced level of exercise. \nWho can participate:\nAll individuals with Parkinson’s Disease regardless of age and disease progression. Modifications will be made for individuals as necessary. Individuals with Parkinson’s Disease looking to improve their tone\, rigidity\, and overall function. \nFinancial Assistance is available. No one will be denied participation due to financial concerns. \nEligibility and Criteria: \n\nDesigned for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease\nIndividuals in this program must be able to participate independently with direction from the lead facilitator.\n\nIf individuals need 1:1 assistance\, a mentor or care partner must attend and assist the individual at the program. DESCRIPTION:What is Brain & Body Fitness?\nBrain & Body Fitness is designed specifically for people living with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or early-stage dementias to maintain current functioning and increase socialization. Brain & Body occurs in a small group setting completing exercises that focus on brain and body health to improve physical fitness and mood. An early intervention for dementia diagnosis\, this class is a non-threatening way to remain active in the community. Brain & Body Fitness has been shown to improve physical fitness and mood in people living with dementia. The exercise program is safe\, effective and a fun\, social program taught by trained facilitators. \nWho can participate in Brain & Body Fitness?\nAny adult with a diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or early-stage dementia. To participate in the Brain & Body Fitness group exercise program participants must be able to perform simple exercises\, be able to follow verbal directions\, and participate in conversation. \nFinancial assistance is available. DESCRIPTION:This program is open to individuals of all abilities 16+. This program is designed to welcome and orient new members to the STAR Center facility and programs. Participants will learn how to use STAR adaptive equipment and develop an initial exercise plan to use independently in the center. Participants will have the opportunity to ask specific questions about STAR group exercise programs in order to find the best fit for their abilities and goals. Individuals will complete a comprehensive checklist to ensure understanding and competency of the equipment. \nWho can participate in Fresh STARt: Introduction to the STAR Center?\nIndividuals 16+ who are interested in coming to open gym times or working out independently. SUMMARY:Can't Stop Me- PD Exercise (Level 3-4)
DESCRIPTION:https://starcenter.app.neoncrm.com/eventList.jspThis program level is intended to serve individuals with who are assessed by the program coordinator as a level 3 or 4. This program will provide more adaptations and seated exercises for participants with support from volunteers and staff members. \nWho can participate:\nAll individuals with Parkinson’s Disease regardless of age and disease progression. Modifications will be made for individuals as necessary. Individuals with Parkinson’s Disease looking to improve their tone\, rigidity\, and overall function. Individuals do not need music experience to participate in this program. \nScholarships are available. No one will be denied participation due to financial concerns. \nVeterans with a disability are able to participate in STAR programs for free. \nWhat to bring:\n\nWater bottle\nSweat towel\nComfortable clothing\nShoes suitable for activity\nCare partners are welcome to attend and participate with you\, at no extra cost\n\nThe STAR Center provides all equipment necessary for each program. \nCOVID-19 disclaimer\nThe STAR Association follows CDC\, State and County Health Department recommendations for COVID Mitigation. DESCRIPTION:Functional Strength is a group exercise program for adults 50+ to learn about functional movements to enhance overall strength\, mobility\, cardiovascular health\, and flexibility. The movements utilized are functional- movements that you do each day! This program can help enhance your activities of daily living and overall health and wellbeing. \nWho can participate:\nAny adult age 50+ are invited to participate in Functional Strength. \nScholarships are available. No one will be denied participation due to financial concerns. \nEligibility and Criteria:\n\nDesigned for individuals of all abilities 50+\nIndividuals in this program must be able to participate independently with direction from the lead facilitator.\n\nIf individuals need 1:1 assistance\, a mentor or care partner must attend and assist the individual at the program. If you need assistance finding support\, please contact STAR.
