SUMMARY:Veteran Sports Day
DESCRIPTION:STAR will be hosting a Veteran Sports Day for all Veterans to come and try different adapted and para sports that STAR has to offer. Sports will include wheelchair badminton\, wheelchair pickleball\, wheelchair lacrosse\, boccia\, and beep ball. This is a FREE event for all. Veterans\, family members\, friends\, and caregivers and welcome to attend. All equipment will be provided.\nWho can participate:\nAny Veteran who has a mobility or intellectual challenge that makes participating in traditional recreation programming difficult. \n\nSpina bifida\nSpinal cord injury\nCerebral palsy\nCongenital limb issues\nAmputations\nLeg length discrepancy\nShort stature\nMuscular dystrophy\nParkinson’s disease\nMultiple sclerosis\nMotor dyspraxia\nLimited range of motion\nBalance issues\nPost stroke\nBlind and visual impairment\n\nIndividuals may ambulate independently or use assistive devices or wheelchairs. \nVeterans with a disability are able to participate in STAR programs for free. \nWhat to bring:\n\nWater bottle\nComfortable clothing\nBike gloves (if you have them)\nSport wheelchair (if you have one)\nParents\, friends\, family members\, and/or care partners are welcome to attend.\n\nThe STAR Center provides all equipment necessary for each program. \nCOVID-19 disclaimer\nThe STAR Association follows CDC\, State and County Health Department recommendations for COVID Mitigation. We recommend that all who are eligible to get a vaccine to do so.
